A kitchen is the heart and soul of any home… at least we think so! It’s the room where families come together to make food and, more importantly, lasting memories. It goes without saying that a well-designed, functional kitchen sets the tone for the rest of the home. This year, there are some seriously gorgeous new trends in kitchen design. So if you’re looking for some inspiration for your next kitchen makeover or renovation… look no further! Here are some of our favourite 2020 Kitchen Trends.
Kitchen Trends You Need To Know This 2020
Hidden Appliances
Transform your messy, cluttered kitchen into a sleek, minimalist oasis by tucking your appliances away behind custom-built cabinetry. By concealing your bulky appliances under a few cute cabinet doors, your kitchen will immediately look like a streamlined paradise.
Cover up your fridge, small appliances, trash bin and dishwasher behind matching cupboards and you’ll only have to look at those mismatched appliances when you’re actually cooking. With modern technology, it’s possible to install pocketing doors that tuck out of the way, or automatic retracting cupboards that slide away at the press of a button!
Sophisticated Shades
Everyone is familiar with the stark white washed walls of every Instagram influencer’s picture-perfect home. This year, expect to see a new trend! Spoiler Alert: dark, moody colours are going to be all the rage. We love the sophisticated look of muted navy or forest green on the walls or cabinetry (or both!). Using ultra dark colours in moderation will create a grown-up feel to your kitchen that still feels warm, welcoming and inviting.
Statement Fixtures
Choose a few fixtures to replace, and go to town selecting the most ornate, decorative options. Think large copper taps, or eye-catching hanging pendant light fixtures to create a focal point for the space. Choosing a statement piece you love will also give you the opportunity to design the room around this single fixture. Find other fixtures or fittings to match and select a colour palette to complement the design of your statement piece. Quick tip: keep the rest of the kitchen fairly muted and your guests will automatically be drawn to your gorgeous centerpiece.
Rustic Country Farmhouse With A Twist
The classic English Farmhouse has always been a source of inspiration for Bloomsbury. The style evokes feelings of coziness, warmth and hominess. This year, we expect to see this classic style with a modern twist. Go for modern appliances with a hardwood or brick floor. Or contrast your new stainless steel appliances with stunning reclaimed wooden beams. A word from the wise - if you are going for a rustic look with a modern twist, be sure to commit to two specific contrasting styles and decide which aspects of the kitchen will be rustic and which will be modern!
Modern Framed Kitchens
Framed kitchen cabinets may stem from traditional craftsmanship, but if you’d like to know our humble opinion… we firmly believe that all kitchen cabinetry should be framed! Why? Our Framed Kitchens are made from solid wood and their rigid form of construction makes this style of craftsmanship much more durable than their modern frameless counterparts. Not to mention, the true English framed inset style of cabinetry gives authenticity and layers of interest without feeling fussy or contrived.
Keep your eyes peeled for our Modern Framed Kitchen display at The National Home Show this March!
